Osteopathy is a holistic manual therapy that follows the principle of the body as a dynamic unit of function. Treatment is gentle, non-invasive and encourages the body’s self-healing capacity. The treatment goal is to restore proper body mechanics, nerve impulses, and circulation of the body fluids. By realigning the structures of the body, improving the mobility of the joints, and releasing restriction of the fascia, muscles, and ligaments, the body is supported in its restoration of proper mechanics allowing it to open the channel of the nerve impulses and circulation of the body fluids and to reduce muscle and joint pain. Each treatment is unique and catered to what the body needs.

Osteopathy is beneficial in relieving acute/chronic pain and inflammation, restoring healthy body motion, supporting healing, promoting circulation, and preventing illness or injury.

Yukiko (Yuki) is a licensed Osteopathic Manual Practitioner and a member of Osteopathy Canada (OSTCAN).

Born and raised in Japan, Yuki decided to move to Canada and settle in Whistler as she enjoys learning about different cultures and being close to nature, especially the mountains. Her love of snowboarding led her to Whistler where she began to work as a snowboard instructor. During her career as a snowboard professional, Yuki was able to travel to many countries to share her knowledge and passion for snowboarding through teaching and training instructors.

As a snow sports professional living an active lifestyle in Whistler, her various injuries introduced her to manual therapy. Before Osteopathy, she studied massage therapy and worked as a Massage Practitioner for over ten years in Whistler. When Yuki experienced her first Osteopathy treatment, she became fascinated by this holistic approach that considers the body as a unit and aims to find the root cause of the problems and dysfunctions of the body. She was impressed that a gentle and non-invasive way of treatment could bring effective results. This discovery of Osteopathy led her to pursue her journey of becoming an Osteopathic Manual Practitioner. She completed her Master in Practice Diploma of Osteopathic Manipulative Science (M.OMSc) at the Canadian Academy of Osteopathy during her 4-year full-time program.

Her treatment approach aims to work with the body in a non-invasive manner, which helps the body integrate the treatment effectively. She uses the anatomical connection of fascia, muscles, ligaments, and bones to deliver the right amount of force to the body to restore alignment, improve the range of motion, open nerve channels, and improve blood flow to induce the body’s self-healing properties. She would like to offer help to people whether it is improving functions, decreasing pain, or maintaining their alignment so that individuals can continue to enjoy their everyday life.

On her off days, you may see her snowboarding on the mountain in winter, and mountain biking in the summer. She loves to travel and discover new cultures around the world. She can communicate in English, French, and Spanish as well as her native language, Japanese.
